Pure Words
“The words of the
LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven
times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this
generation forever.” (Psalms 12:6-7)
Today’s Morsel: The Scriptures are the words of God; and they are pure and holy, free from all human
mixtures, and from all fraud and deceit; they are the words of truth. As Peter states, “We have also a
more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a
light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise
in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any
private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of
man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”(2 Peter 1:19-21) The promises are the words of God, and
they are firm and stable, and can always be
depended on.
The Gospel, and the doctrines of it, are the words of
God. It is the sincere milk of the word, pure and incorrupt. As Peter
again informs us, “Seeing ye have purified your souls
in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see
that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not
of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and
abideth forever.”
(1 Peter 1:22-23) All of God’s word, when it is dispensed by the faithful ministers whom He called to
minister it; should promote purity
and holiness of heart and life in all. It’s already been tried and proven; so, use
it.
Sing: Tell me the story of Jesus,
write on my heart every word. Tell me the story most precious, precious
that ever was heard. Tell how the angels in chorus, Sang as they welcomed
His birth. Glory to God in the highest, peace and good tidings to earth.
Thought For Today: It’s already been tried and proven. So, use it.
