Let’s Talk Success
“This book of the law
shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and
night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good
success.” (Joshua 1:8)
Today’s
Morsel: What yardstick would you use to measure yours or someone else’s success? Some folks try to base the success in
life on their career or the things that they have achieved. The Lord told
Joshua that the way to success was for him to not allow the book of the law to
depart out of his mouth. David admonished, “Blessed is the man that
walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth
he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of
water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not
wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalms 1:1-3) The Lord told Joshua that he should meditate in the law day and night
and he would have success. In other words, if he spent time studying and reading
the law, and applying it to his life, his life would be filled with wisdom, good behavior, intelligence, and
character because there is not success in life without these things.
