Guard
Duty
“Keep
thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away
from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes
look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path
of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand
nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
(Proverbs 4:23-27)
(Proverbs 4:23-27)
Today’s Morsel: Have you ever
had to pull guard duty? When I was in the army, it wasn’t uncommon for
your name to appear on the duty roster for guard duty. Sometimes we never knew
what we were guarding. But I still apply many of the principles that they
taught us today. Know your orders. Look your best. Stay
alert. Take your duty seriously. Don’t fall asleep. And know that
more is at stake than what you may think. Solomon says that we should
apply the same principles when it comes to life: Keep
thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life; Put away
from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee; Let thine eyes
look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee; Ponder the path
of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established; Turn not to the right hand
nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil; There is more at stake then it may
appear. Apply the principals that Solomon teaches and you will never be
caught off guard.
Sing: I've
found a new away of living, I've found a new life divine, I have the fruit of
the Spirit; I am abiding, abiding in the vine.
Abiding in the vine, abiding in the vine,
love, joy, health, peace, He has made them mine. I have prosperity, power
and victory abiding, abiding in the vine.
Thought For Today: Stay
Alert.
