Worker Shortage
“And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.” (Matthew 20:3-8)
Today’s Morsel: Just about everywhere I go, I see signs saying “Hiring". There seems to be a shortage of employees for the jobs and work that is available. Why do people not want to work? Do they think that others will provide for them? Do they think that living is free? Do they think that the government is responsible for their livelihood? Have my people no knowledge, saith the Lord. Paul told the church at Thessalonica: “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10) It’s even becoming hard for the church to find labors for the vineyard. Scripture says that God sought for a man to stand in the gap and to mend the hedges that He would not destroy the land. But He found no one willing. Therefore, He poured out his indignation upon them. Now is not the time to be idle. Jesus is still hiring laborers for the field. As the old saying goes, the pay here may not be much, but the retirement plan is out of this world. It’s time to get to working in His fields.
Sing: My house if full, but My fields are empty, who will go and work for Me today? It seems My children want to stay around My table; but no one wants to work in My fields, no one wants to work in My fields.
