Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 June 26

Have You Visited the Home of Wisdom Lately?

“I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.”...“Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.” (Proverbs 8:12, 34-35)

Today’s Morsel: Throughout the book of Proverbs, Solomon stresses the importance of wisdom in one’s life. We know that according to scripture, as a young boy Solomon, who took the throne after his father David, prayed and asked God to give him wisdom to lead His people. And scripture says, “And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.” (1 Kings 4:29-32) The same way that we each need a pastor or an elder (man or woman) in our life to guide us and to encourage and strengthen us, we each need to visit the home of wisdom so that we can gain more wisdom, knowledge, understanding, discretion, and instructions. When Jacob arose out of his sleep in Luz, which he would later name as Bethel (the house of God), he said that this is a dreadful place, this is none other but the house of God and the gateway to heaven. The church must always be the home of wisdom, as every true church ought to have Jesus as its foundational stance and be seen as the house of God and the gateway to heaven. Solomon wrote, “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.” (Proverbs 4:5-9) Because once you find wisdom, you find life, and obtain favor of the Lord. Have you visited the home of wisdom lately?

Sing: In His presence there’s fullness of joy; at His right hand, there’s pleasure forever more. Oh what fellowship divine, I am His and He is mine. In the presence of the Lord, there’s fullness of joy.

Thought For Today: “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:24)
