Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 June 8

Give It To Jesus

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Today’s Morsel: One of the traits of character that you must develop in your life as a Christian is that of trust. And the reason is, because people are going to say things that hurt you, and you are going to go through things in your life that you were not expecting. Such as sickness, rejection, divorce, death, and even loss of employment. When Peter stated that we should cast all our cares upon the Lord, for he careth for you, he was just reaching back to Old Testament scripture to remind us of what should already be known by believers. David had said: “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (Psalms 55:22) Oftentimes the New Testament writers are simply quoting Old Testament scripture because that was what the people would have known and heard. And today, we of the 20th and 21st century, will hear the same scriptures of encouragement for our learning: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13:8) This is why I believe that we must obey scripture. The same as they were commanded to cast their cares upon the Lord, so are we. So, what does that look like? How do we cast our cares on the Lord. Well, what is bothering you? Our cares can sometimes come in many forms. Such as agitations, confrontations, distresses, anxieties, and worries. But as I said, if you have not developed the trait of trust, it will be hard for you to cast your cares upon the Lord if you do not learn to fully trust Him.  So, let me encourage you. You can trust God. If you could not, He would not have placed it in His word. As Solomon said: “Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us: That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers. And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require: That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.” (1 Kings 8:56-60) He will work if you will let Him!  The choice is our’s to make.

Sing: There is none like You. No one else can touch my heart like You do. I can search for all eternity long and find, there is none like You.

Thought For Today: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
