Guts

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.” (Deuteronomy 31:6-7)

Today’s Morsel: When we speak of having guts, we are speaking of having courage and intestinal fortitude. Courage is somewhat like faith; without it you cannot please God. Courage comes through trust and belief not only in oneself, but also in others and in the tools and equipment you are provided to do your job. Throughout scripture, we see God giving Israel the promise that He is with them, and that He will not leave them nor forsake them. God gave them His word. And He cannot deny Himself. Therefore, all they had to do was to put their trust in Him and let Him work on their behalf. You can live in fear, torment, stress, and unbelief for the rest of your life, or you can get some guts about you, live daily with a smile on your face, and lift your head high, knowing that within you is the Mighty God, Christ Jesus, and that nothing can defeat you nor overcome you.

Sing: I am a promise, I am a possibility, I am a promise, with a capital P, I am great big bundle of potentiality; and I am trying, to hear God’s voice, and I am trying to make the right choice; I am a promise to be, anything that God wants me to be.

Thought For Today: “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.” (Psalms 31:24)
