The Glory of Children
“Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.” (Proverbs 17:6)
Today’s Morsel: In my book, “Never Leave The Enemy In Command of the Battlefield,” a book for men, I dedicated one chapter to this topic (The Glory of Children), because homes are being destroyed due in part to a lack of fatherhood. The home, churches, schools, and communities, need good and godly fathers. If the church is to accomplish its mission, it must have good godly fathers and men. Scriptures say that the glory of children are their fathers. A wise and godly father is an honor to their children. And even when the child gets older, it is still an honor to them that their fathers lived such a godly lifestyle. Fathers must teach their children the ways or God. It is not the church’s responsibility to do that. They can help, but this responsibility was given by God to fathers. If a father is going to command the battlefield, then they must do those things that will bring glory and honor to their children. And that begins with them knowing God, and making Him known, by their actions, conduct, and character. Let me encourage you dads, follow Jesus and you will bring glory to your children.
Sing: To be like Jesus! To be like Jesus! On earth I long to be like Him. All through life’s journey, from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.
Thought For Today: “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
