I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. (Psalms 121:1-8)
Today's Morsel:I've noticed that now you can buy either jelly or preserves. I asked a guy once what the difference was. He said that he didn't know but that he thought the preserves lasted longer. The Psalmist said, "The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." To preserve something is to keep something protected from anything that would cause its current quality or condition to change or deteriorate or cause it to fall out of use. Having this understanding, we can see that not only is God our shield and buckler, but also our protector. Therefore, as long as we remain by Him, we will be just fine.
Sing: If it had not been for the Lord on our side, tell me where would we be, where would we be.
