Keep Running

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)

Today’s Morsel: Lately, I have been listening to reports and hearing reports of Christians who say that they are thinking about quitting the ministry and quitting church. When I hear these types of reports, I become as the prophet Isaiah when he said: “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” (Isaiah 40:28-29) So, what is causing so much weariness that folks want to quit? I believe that the number one cause is a lack of persuasion. Folks are not persuaded that Jesus is who He said that He is (John 14:6-9), that He is coming back (John 14:2), and that the Bible is real (2 Timothy 3:16).  Folks are not fully persuaded about heaven. Everyone talks about going but no one wants to die, sang Mark Lowery. The reason the children of Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness was due to their unbelief. If you are not fully persuaded that you can win this race, you are more than likely going to be one of them that quit. Let me encourage you, this race isn’t like a natural race. This race isn’t given to the swift or the fastest. This race is won by all who endure to the end. The same way that every kid on a sports team, these days, is given a trophy if they remain on the team the entire season of play, it’s the same way with Jesus. If you endure until the end, doing those things He asked of you, you are going to be rewarded. So don’t quit. Quitting is seen as a lack of self-discipline.

Sing: You’re going make it, you’re going to making it, you’ve got what it takes to win. And I know that you’re gonna make it, you’re gonna make it, just as long as you and Jesus stay friends.
