Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 28 February 2022

 Now Hiring

For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. (Matthew 20:1-7)

Today’s Morsel: Everywhere I go these days, I see signs stating ‘Now Hiring.’ People are looking for people to work. In some cases, they are willing to give you on-the-job training. For over 2,000 years, the hidden message in the Gospel is just that, “Now Hiring’. God has been looking for laborers to work in His vineyard. Jesus said the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray to the Lord of the harvest that He would send forth laborers into His harvest. Boaz wasn’t hiring, as far as we can tell, but Ruth was willing to work.  And he not only hired her, but he made her his wife, and she became instrumental in the Lord’s birth. We never know what will take place when we go to work. Especially in God’s vineyard. Lives may be saved by you accepting that job. Backsliders may return to the church because you took that job. Marriages may become reconciled because you took that job. Someone ready to commit suicide or get an abortion may change their minds all because you took that job and brought a little light to the environment. Jesus is still hiring. The pay may not be much, but the retirement plan is out of this world.

Sing: When He calls me, I will answer. When He calls me, I will hear. When He calls me, I will answer, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord. I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord; I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord.

Thought For Today: Now Hiring for the Kingdom.
