Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 24 February 2022

The Perfect Man

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.(Psalms 37:37)

Today’s Morsel:  If you were asked to name three perfect men, could you? We hear all the time that no one is perfect.  Why do we feel that no one is perfect? Shouldn't we all be perfect if we are born again? Or are we looking for an escape route when we want to do wrong? We can blame the flesh for our problems but what will Jesus say when you stand before Him? Do you think that He will give you a pass? I think not. Because over 2,000 years ago He told us, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.(Matthew 5:48) (emphasis mine).  So if we are not doing everything in our power to be perfect it’s not His fault it is our own. Based on this scripture we should be able to understand what Paul meant when he wrote, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.(Philippians 2:12-16) You must work to become perfect.  And after you are born-again of the water and the Spirit, it usually starts with keeping your eyes on Jesus, The Perfect Man, and simply become a doer of His word. In other words, we must stop making excuses for ourselves and follow Him with our whole hearts.   As a lady in Korea used to say, "It is tight, but it is right!"

Sing: To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like Him.  All through life’s journey, from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.

Thought For Today:And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?(Job 1:8)
