2011 August 4 - Morning Manna

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. (Psalms 37:4-9)

Today's Morsel: What comes to your mind when you think of delighting and resting in the Lord?  If we delight in something, we take pleasure in it.  If we rest, we are refreshed and free from exertion.  So, we need to take pleasure in serving the Lord and get excited about doing it.  On any given Sunday, the people of the world will get so excited about their favorite sports team.  Many will be so excited that they will stand in freezing sub-zero degree weather and watch them play and shout until they are hoarse and cannot speak.  But when it comes to the Lord and His church, many so called Christian won't even venture out of their house to go to the house of God to worship, citing, it's too cold.  Why can't we delight ourselves in the same way for God?  David said, "Shout unto God with a voice of triumph."  Yell, scream, holler, whatever it take to give Him praise. We already know that we win, so why not start getting excited and acting like it.  I believe that if more born again believers would get excited about serving God, they wouldn't be so stressed, weary, and without hope.  And that is because God would give them the desires of the heart.

Sing: I'm gonna praise the Lord anyway that I can! I'm gonna praise the Lord anyway that I can! Praise Him in the morning, praise Him all day long, I'm gonna praise the Lord any way that I can.
