2011 August 20 - Morning Manna

Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I. Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not? (2 Corinthians 11:22-29)

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. (Acts 20:24)

Today's Morsel: Football legend Bobby Bowden said, "Don't go to your grave with a life unused."  How are you using your life?  Are you using it for Jesus or are you just letting it sit idle. Solomon said, "I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man" (Proverbs 24:30-34).  This man's life was being wasted right before his own eyes.  He was not using his life wisely. Are you a good manager of your time?  Time is one the most precious commodities that we have. It is what our life is made up of.  Paul said, "For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God" (Romans 14:10-12).  Paul didn't waste his life, he used every moment he could for Jesus, to preach the gospel.  How will Jesus view your life?  Well used or wasted?

Sing:  When He calls me, I will answer.  When God calls me, I will hear. When He calls me, I will answer, I'll be somewhere working for my Lord.  I'll be somewhere working, I'll be somewhere working, I'll be somewhere working for my Lord; I'll be somewhere working, I'll be somewhere working, I'll be somewhere working for my Lord.
