The Foundation
“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalms 11:3)
Today’s Morsel: One of the enemy’s goals is to destroy the foundation of the church. In writing to the church at Corinth, Paul states: “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11) There is not another foundation for the church but Jesus Christ and His word. If the enemy can get people to not believe and not trust in the Lord and His word, he can destroy the foundation of the righteous. You see, our foundation is the truth of God’s Word. And if the enemy can cause folks not to study, not to pray, not to believe, not to live, not to love, and not to hold fast to God’s word, he can destroy the faith of the righteous. Again, as Paul told the church at Ephesus: “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:18-22) Don’t let the enemy destroy your foundation. For if you do, what will you and the righteous do?
Sing: My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, all other round is sinking sand.
Thought For Today: “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Timothy 2:19)
