Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 Jul 10

TAP

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:36-42)

Today’s Morsel: When it comes to the church and our salvation, we must TAPTake the Apostles Approach. We cannot be true Christians if we do not Take the Apostles Approach and do the things that they believed and taught. As everything (as far as we can tell) that they taught and did was based upon Jesus Christ. If they taught unity, it was because Christ is one and that He is not divided. If they taught love, it was because God is love. If they taught healing, it was because of Christ’s stripes that we are healed. If they taught forgiveness, it was because Christ has forgiven us. If they taught giving, it was because God had given His son for us. And if they taught salvation, it was because nothing is their salvation in any other but Jesus Christ. As Paul admonished us: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;” (Colossians 2:8-14) Now is not the time to tap out. Now is the time to TAP in and continue to obey the words and teachings of the apostles. “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” (2 John 1:7-11) Therefore, we must TAP.

Sing: Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross, lift high the royal banner, it mustnot suffer loss. From victory unto victory, His army shall He lead, till every foe is vanquished and Christ is Lord indeed.

Thought For Today: “As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.” (1 Timothy 1:3-4)
