Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 July 11

What Matters To You Most?

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42)

Today’s Morsel: When it comes to the church, what matters to you most? Is it that the preacher delivers a great message so that you leave feeling good? The children didn’t cry or make a lot of noise while visitors were present? That Brother Cocama Joe didn’t walk around praying out loud to disturb folks? That the pastor will not take pledges for the missionary’s while your guests is there? That the preacher will not talk and bash other denominations while your friends from other denomination are visiting with you? Just what matters to you the most? Is it that Christ will be taught and explained? That the love of God will be seen and expressed by others? That there is spiritual growth from your ministry? Is it that people will learn to not be critical of others and that all gossip will be left outside the church? Just what matters to you most? If it is not Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, you will probably find yourself troubled and worried about many things. As Jesus told Martha: “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42) What matters to you?

Sing: Jesus at the center of it all. Jesus at the center of it all. From beginning to the end, it will always be, it’s always been You Jesus, Jesus.
Nothing else matters, nothing in this world will do. Jesus, You're the center, everything revolves around You, Jesus You. You’re at the center of it all, You’re the center of it all.

Thought For Today: “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:2)
