Are You Walking Like Jesus?
“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:6)
Today’s Morsel: Lately, I’ve been sitting pondering on of the unrest, disunity, stress, discontentment, complaining, gossip, lack of commitment, unbecoming conduct, and unethical behavior that is now been seen in the church. And my mind keeps caring me back to Paul’s instructions to Timothy: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” (1 Timothy 4:1-3); “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:1-7). The church is starting to no longer walk like Jesus walked, but they are beginning to walk after their own lusts and fulfilling the desires of their own heart. John stated: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:6) How did Jesus walk? He walked with compassion. When compassion is missing from your heart, everything becomes about you. But when you walk in compassion, it’s all about others and their well-being. It is time for the church to turn their heart back to the heart of compassion and walk once again as Jesus walked.
Sing: Let me walk in the light, in the great gospel light; let me walk in the gospel light. Till my journey is over and I travel no more, let me walk in the gospel light.
Thought For Today: “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” (Colossians 4:5)
