Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 18 July 2020

Empty Headed

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.(1 Timothy 4:1-5)

Today’s Morsel:  As I observe this world in which we live, how can so many people whom we observe at the end of each school year walk across the stage, receive their diplomas for their studies, and yet so many of them are without a conscience or still lack understanding. Judgment is turned around backward in them.  Justice stands far from them.  They cast truth in the streets and equity does not seem to enter their hearts.  “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge” saith the Lord (Jeremiah 4:22).  “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.” (Isaiah 5:13-16)  A person may sometimes have a clear conscience simply because his head is empty.

Sing:  Let me walk in the light, in the great gospel light, let me walk in the gospel light.  Till my journey is over and I’ll travel no more, let me walk in the gospel light.

Thought For Today:  Don’t be an educated fool!
