Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 21 July 2020

Professionalism

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
(Hebrews 6:1-2)

Today’s Morsel:  One of the things that I have learned about being a professional is that it requires a lot of self-discipline and determination to do what is right.  A true professional is not one who boasts about who he is, what he has accomplished, or what he has.  The character he displays in his life will reflect who he is.  A professional is one who does his best work when no one is watching.  He has the discipline within himself to seek perfection.  Paul instructed the church at Philippi that the things they had heard, learned, and seen in him they should do, and that the God of love and peace would be with them.  I believe what he was saying was that I have shown you what a true professional should be, know, and do.  What about you? Do you know what you ought to do?  The children of Issachar had knowledge of the times that they knew what Israel ought to do.  Do you desire to become a professional Christian in Christ and His ways?  Then let us go on to do it. It is possible to be achieved.

Sing: I have decided to follow Jesus.  I have decided to follow Jesus.  I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.

Thought For Today: A professional is one who does his best work when no one is watching.
