Bad Things

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.(Ephesians 4:26-29)

Today’s Morsel:  In this chapter, Paul lists things that we ought to be doing as Christians once we become born again, and some things that we ought not to be doing. And I only want to focus a few of those things mentioned today.  They are anger, room for the devil, stealing, and corrupt communication.
First is anger.  We know that, according to scripture,  anger rests in the bosom of fools and it is the fool that says in their heart that there is no God.  And we also know that fools make a mock at sin.  And so, when we have allowed anger to get into our hearts, we open the door to the devil.  Satan never has to work overtime to destroy us when we keep destroying ourselves.  One of the worst types of destruction is self-destruction.  You destroy yourself because of your own foolishness.
Next is stealing.  How much of someone else’s time are you stealing because you fail to plan?  How much of someone else’s time are you stealing because you will not go home?  How much of someone else’s time are you stealing from their spouse and children because you feel as though what you need done is more important to you than their family is?  How much of someone else's time are you stealing because of your lack of being punctual?
And the last is corrupt communication.  Why do we feel that we need to tell everything that we know about someone else to others?  Gossip is corrupt communication.  Speaking ill of someone you have never met because of what you hear on the media about them is corrupt communication.  Corrupt communication is the flintstone that gives the spark to the fire of hell and to destroy others.
These three things should no longer be in your life as a born-again believer.  Paul tells us to never let our good become evil spoken of (my wording, Romans 14:16).

Sing:  I’ve anchored in Jesus, the storms of life I’ll brave.  I’ve anchored in Jesus, I fear no wind or waves.  I’ve anchored in Jesus, for He hath power to save.  I’ve anchored to the Rock of Ages.

Thought For Today:  “Corrupt communication is the flintstone that gives the spark to the fire of hell and to destroy others.”
