2015 September 3 - Morning Manna

My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:1-6)

Today's Morsel:  When my wife and I were  missionaries, on one of our deputation travels, we were able to mine for gold in California.  No, we didn't find any, but it was fun trying.  I'm amazed at the number of scriptures in the Bible that tell us to search for the things of God.  I often wonder why God wants us to search for the things about Him in His word?  There is a great Bible study called, "Search For Truth" that helps to bring you into an understanding of God and His creation.   Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 3:16 that Jesus being God in flesh was a mystery; "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory".  Therefore, to understand this valuable information, we must be willing to spend the required time to search the scripture to find out this awesome and powerful knowledge of God.   Jesus even tells us to search the scriptures and that we would find out that they were all about Him (see John 5:39-40).   Solomon said that knowledge is given to those who are willing to search for it.  He wrote, "If thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding."  How much of God do you want to know?  If you don't know who God is now, chances are, He probably won't know who are you later.  Always remember, most new discoveries happen because of long research.  So search the scriptures, and see what treasures you can discover.

Sing: Deeper! Deeper! In the love of Jesus, daily let me go.  Higher, higher, in the school of wisdom, more of grace to know.  O' deeper yet I pray, and higher every day, and wiser blessed Lord in thy precious holy word.

Thought for Today:  Most new discoveries happen during research.  So search the scriptures.
