Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. (Isaiah 40:1-5)
Today's Morsel: No matter where I go across the fruited plains of North America, there is a lot of road construction going on. I thank God for anyone who has the foresight to see that our roads and bridges need repairing for our safety. And because they are man made, they will always be under construction. The same holds true on the road to success. Arnold Palmer said that it is always under construction. There are always going to be potholes and pitfalls that we can fall in to. But we must be alert and use them to help us to reach our goals. Isaiah said, "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God." Now is the time to get our life ready for the soon coming of the Lord. Now is the time to go down to straight street and see Ananias, like Paul, so that your eyes can be open to truth (Acts 9). When Jesus returns, He's going to be looking for those who are in the straight path. As He said through the Prophet Jeremiah, "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls" (Jeremiah 6:16). Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow the road may be out.
Sing: Oh there's a highway to heaven, none can walk up there, but the pure and heart. Oh there's a highway to heaven, walking up the King's highway.
Thought for Today: "The road to success is always under construction." Arnold Palmer.
