For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36-37)
Today's Morsel: How much is your life worth to you? How is it that we can know the value of material things and not know the value of our lives? Young girls and young boys are giving themselves away daily for sexuality not realizing the value of who they are. They don't consider their value. If you are young and reading this, it's worth the wait. How much is your crown of life worth to you? Paul said there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness (2Timothy 4:8). So how much is it worth to you. Are you willing to press on to obtain it even if it causes you heartache and pain in this present world? Jesus said, "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown" (Revelation 3:11). How much is your faith worth? Peter said, "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory"(1 Peter 1:7-9). We can't please God without our faith (Hebrews 11:6). So what's it worth to you? Jesus told Peter that He was praying that his faith would fail not (Luke 22:31-32). If Jesus was willing to pray for Peter's faith, it must be something of value to all of us. How much is your integrity worth? It doesn't seem to be worth much to politicians as we are always hearing them compromising. Job said, "God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me"(Job 27:5). Job knew that integrity was important and I pray that you understand that your integrity is important, too. And finally, how much are your children worth to you? Scripture says, "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalms 127:3). Many people don't understand as James said, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17). If you have children, God gave you a good and perfect gift. Are they important to you? It has been stated that there are no bad children, just poor parents. What value do you put on all these things? You might want to think on these things.
Sing: O' how He loves you and me! O' how He loves you and me! He gave His life, what more could He do? O' how He loves you and me.
