Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. (Proverbs 23:23)
Today's Morsel: "Following a great sermon on lifestyle evangelism, one family thought they had better do something to witness for Jesus. So they invited their neighbours to dinner the following Friday night. When it came to the meal, the hostess was keen to show their neighbours that they upheld Christian standards in their home. She asked little 5 year old Johnny to say grace. Little Johnny was a bit shy. "I don't know what to say" There was an awkward pause, followed by a reassuring smile from the boy's mother. "Well darling," she said, " just say what Daddy said at breakfast this morning." Obediently, the boy repeated, "Oh God, we've got those awful people coming to dinner tonight. Please bless the meal."
Humor is the best medicine. So I hope you are feeling better after yesterday's and today's humor input. Believe me, I am serious about sharing the things of God with you!
Wouldn't it be neat if there were businesses that sold truth. When living in Japan, I was once told that if you offered a Japanese person a free class or schooling because they didn't have to pay for it, they would not consider it worth much or of importance and would not attend. I wonder if that is why so few of them are Christians, since it costs them nothing. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6); "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you" (John 14:16-17); "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth" (John 17:17); "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). When we understand that Jesus is truth and that He is the word made flesh and full of grace and truth (John 1:14), we can see the value of truth and why we must not let go of it. There are many things that we may own that are valuable to us, but there is nothing like the truth. Everyday people around the world are begging for Bibles because they want the truth. It has been stated that the Bible is the number one bestselling book every year, but yet it is the least read. Friend, the truth will make you free.
