And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
(Acts 9:1-5)
Today's Morsel: A few months ago, my doctor told me that I had a vitamin D deficiency. And so immediately he wanted to put me on a pill to increase my vitamin D. When I asked him if there was something I could do naturally he said, you could drink more milk, but then in a low voice tone said, maybe more sun. I guess he felt that since my skin was already dark that I wouldn't take that advice! I said, "Doctor, I'll be out in the sun soon cutting my lawn and working outside. Since I will be spending more time in the sun, I bet my vitamin D level will get better."
Luke said of the apostle Paul's conversion, "And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, 'Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?' And he said, 'Who art thou, Lord?' And the Lord said, 'I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.' This light from heaven was none other than Jesus Christ himself. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not" (John 1:4-10). "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin"(1 John 1:7). And after Paul's conversion to Christ and the apostolic faith, he wrote, "Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:1-6). Are you walking in the light of His Glory?
Sing: Walking in sunlight, all on my journey, over the mountains through the deep vale; Jesus has said I'll never forsake thee, promise divine that never can fail.
Sing: Walking in sunlight, all on my journey, over the mountains through the deep vale; Jesus has said I'll never forsake thee, promise divine that never can fail.
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight; flooding my soul with glory divine, hallelujah, I am rejoicing singing His praises, Jesus is mine.
