And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

Today's Morsel: John tells us that if all the books were written of the things that Jesus did, he supposes the world couldn't contain them. When we read our Bibles, not only are they the words of God, but they are also stories to show us the things that He did to increase our faith. "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope" Paul said. (Romans 15:4). The men on the road to Emmaus said, "Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?" There is something about spending time with Jesus that enlightens us to who He is and what He desires to do through each of us. Every sermon that we hear about Christ and the things that He did while on this earth should build our faith. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is filled with stories to lift us and encourage us so that we may understand that if God be for us, everyone else might as well be, too!
Sing: Tell me the story of Jesus, write on my heart every word, tell me the story more precious, sweetest that ever was heard; Tell me how the angels in chorus, sang as they welcomed his birth, Glory to God in the highest! Peace and good tidings on earth.
