And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (Revelation 3:14-22)
Today's Morsel: One of the forms of sharing the Gospel in olden days was door knocking. The Jehovah Witnesses still practice this principle today and some other churches do as well. But you do not see it as much wthin the the church as you used to. Possibly this concept comes from our Savior when He said, "I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with Me." The door that Jesus speaks of here is your heart. And yes, even in your homes He desires to dwell with you. But because many hearts have been hardened through false teachings, abuse, prejudice, and people being wronged, many will not open up and allow Christ to come in. So how do we get them to open up so that Christ can come in since we are charged with taking the Gospel to the whole world. "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will," Paul said (2 Timothy 2:24-26). You don't need to defend the Word of God, it will do it by itself. If we truly represent Jesus and not man, when we knock on someone's door as His representative, the True Light will shine into their hearts and the door to share the truth of the Gospel will be open.
Sing: The Savior is waiting to enter your heart, why don't you let Him come in? There's nothing in this world to keep you apart, what is your answer to Him?
Time after time He waited before, and now He is waiting again to see if you will open the door: O how He wants to come in.
