Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 September 23

What Is In The Volume of The Book About You?

“Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.” (Psalms 40:7-8)

Today’s Morsel: What would you do if someone wrote a book about your life and you were not aware of it until you read it. And then you realized that it was all about you. Well, in some cases, this is what happen when Jesus came on the scene. The religious leaders who were responsible for leading and teaching God’s people should have known who Jesus was. But because they went about to establish their own agenda, they were taken by surprise. The same is true today. If we don’t read the volume of the book, the Bible, we, too, are not going to know who Jesus is. The book is about Him. Paul, who had read the book and who had met Jesus on the road to Damascus, wrote: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16) He told the church at Phillipi: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” (Philippians 3:10)Paul knew Him. He had a first-hand encounter with Christ. John the Beloved, who wrote the gospel of John, quoted Jesus as saying: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” (John 5:39-40) The book, the Bible, is all about Jesus Christ, God manifested in flesh, to give us life. Have you read and received that newness of life?  What does the book say about you in its pages?

Sing: There’s a new name written down in glory, and it’s mine, oh, yes, it’s mine! And the white robed angels tell the story, “A sinner has come home.” For there’s a new name written down in glory, and it’s mine, oh, yes, it’s mine! With my sins forgiven I am bound for heaven, never more to roam.

Thought For Today: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)
