Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 September 17

There Is More To Do In The Kingdom

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:1-2)

Today’s Morsel: Growing up on a farm, there was always a need for laborers. There seemed to always be work that needed to be done. From sunup to sundown, from planting to reaping, work needed to be done to bring in the harvest. Jesus, being the husbandman, knew this as well. When He told the parable of the householder seeking labors in Matthew 20:1-16, He said that he went out until the 11th hour seeking laborers. Jesus was stressing the importance of needed laborers for the bringing in of the harvest. He said, Lift-up your eyes and look on the fields for they are white unto harvest. There is more work to be done in the kingdom. Souls are ripe for the picking. Fruit is dying and drying up on the vine.  And Jesus has brought you into His kingdom for such a time as this to help Him bring in the harvest.  Solomon tells us: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (Proverbs 11:30) Can Jesus count on you to go labor in His field?

Sing: My house if full, but my fields are empty, who will go and work for me today? It seems my children all want to stay around my table, but no one wants to work in my fields, no one wants to work in my fields.

Thought For Today: Consider your ways.
