Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 September 25

What Are You Aiming At?

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)

Today’s Morsel: One of the primary lessons we taught soldiers in basic training was BasicRifle Marksmanship (BRM). And part of that training was to teach them how to properly Breathe, Relax, Aim, and Squeeze (BRAS) the trigger to prevent from jerking the rifle causing them to miss the target they were aiming at.  What are you aiming at? Do you have your sights focused and set on heaven? Paul said: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1) Where is your aim? Are you focused? Solomon informs us: “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In this race for heaven, you must learn how to stay focused so that you do not get tired and quit. You must learn how to keep your focus on where you are headed and relax. You can’t allow things or others to trouble you to where you become unsettled and fail in your mind. You can hit heaven, your target, if you are staying focused on Jesus and His Word.

Sing: Oh Lord You know I have no friend like You, if Heaven’s not my home, then Lord what will I do? The angels are beckoning me, from heaven’s open door and I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.

Thought For Today: “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 10:22)
