Are You Winning The Battle?

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Today’s Morsel: Warfare is nasty business. Lives are lost. Bodies become maimed. Hearts are broken. Stress is multiplied. And trauma is enhanced in a person’s life, in some cases forever. So, what are you doing to win the battle of feeling as though there is no hope. What are you doing to win the battle of isolation, confusion, suicidal thoughts, and helplessness? The writer of Hebrews gives us a snapshoot of those patriarchs’ lives who went before us. He wrote, Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. If we want to win the battle, then we, too, must endure the cross. We must, “come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16). You must, “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude 1:21); “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13) Hang in there and take up your cross daily.  We do have hope.

Sing: Be bold! Be Strong! For the Lord your God is with you. Be bold! Be Strong! For the Lord your God is with you. I am not afraid, I am not dismayed; because we’re walking in faith and victory; come on, we are walking in faith and victory, cause the Lord,, your God is with you.

Thought For Today: To win the Battle, you must endure the cross.

  1. Excellent warfare illustration. I've found that waking up and treating every day like a new day and forgetting yesterday is key for me. Not time for bitterness... just another new day with God!
