Turning Darkness into Light
“Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79)
Today’s Morsel: One of the greatest mysteries open to us in scripture is God bringing light out of darkness. But when we read and understand that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all, the mystery is easily solved. Wherever Jesus went when He was upon the earth, it brought light. Whether He was teaching and opening peoples’ understanding, opening the eyes of the blind where they could now see, causing the lame to walk, or raising one from the dead, people saw great light. And now Jesus tells us to let our light shine so that men will see our good work and glorify our Father in heaven. Your actions and conduct should reveal to this world that Jesus is in you, the hope of glory. The world around you is looking for hope, healing, and understanding. Now is not the time to be like Eli, and let the lamp go out in the temple. Now is the time to seek for fresh oil and turn the wick up in the lamps high so that the light in the lighthouse will give way to the wayward and lost and bring those souls sailing at sea safely home into port.
Sing: This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine; this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine; this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine; let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
