Wounded
“The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?” (Proverbs 18:14)
Today’s Morsel: There are many people walking around today that have been wounded. If you ever see a military person with a purple heart, you know that they were wounded in/during combat by the enemy. But there are also those folks today in and out of the church that have been wounded, physically, mentally, and spiritually by friends and foes alike. Solomon states that “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?” In other words, when your inward man, the soul, is healthy and in good health, it can sustain you through pain, suffering, and other trials and troubles. But when your inner man is wounded, what will you do? Satan isn’t too much concerned with your outer man, and sometimes I think we give him too much credit for the things that happen to us is the flesh. He’s more concerned with wounding you within. In your soul. That’s why he doesn’t try to destroy the church from without. He does it from within. Let me encourage you today. If you have been wounded within, there is a cure for you. “For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.” (Jeremiah 30:17) Why not look yourself in the mirror and say, “God’s got this!”
Sing: He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, surely, He bore all our sorrows, and by His stripes we are healed.
