Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 1 January 2021

First Things First

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
(Matthew 6:31-34)

Today’s Morsel:  As you begin this New Year, do not focus on 2021, but focus on the Kingdom of God. Last year is gone, and there is nothing you can do about it.  And the New Year is before us.  What will we do with it?  If you will notice, when God asked Solomon at an early age to ask what he would, Solomon asked for wisdom to lead.  This was seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness first. And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.(2 Chronicles 1:11-12)  The Apostle Paul tells us, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 14:17)  How was your peace and joy in 2020?  There are many things you are going to face or have a need for this yearJesus tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the things we will have need of will be added to us.

Sing:  Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Hallelujah, hallelujah.
