Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 28 September 2020

The Ark of The Covenant

“Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.” (Hebrews 9:1-5)

Today’s Morsel:  One of the things that I have learned through studying God’s word is that every story written, or every item that God instructs to be built, all have a life application attached to it for us.  The writer of Hebrews states that in the Holiest of all there was a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid with gold.  And inside of it was Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat.  Notice the ark was within the veil.  When Jesus died on the cross, and they pierced His side, the vail was rented from top to bottom now giving us free access to come boldly to the throne of grace and find mercy and help in the time of need.  Aaron's rod, the pot of manna, and the table of stones were all inside of the ark of the covenant.  It was called the ark of the covenant because the items God used to show His covenant with Israel were placed inside of it.  These items represent the bread of life (Pot of Manna), the word of life (table of Stones), and the resurrection and the life (Aaron's rod that budded), the mercy seat (God's forgiveness) and  the Cherubims (God’s ministering spirits).  When we are born-again of the water and the spirit and God enters a covenant with us, these things automatically become available for our life.  Are you using them for God’s purpose in your life?

Sing:  The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You.  The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You.  I want to know You more; I want to know You more.  The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You.

Thought For Today:  Study to show yourself approved unto God.
