Invitation
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and
open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
(Revelation 3:20)
Today’s
Morsel: How many times would you say that you did not
open the door when the doorbell rang or invited the person standing at your
door in because you did not know who they were? Scripture tells us, “Let
brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby
some have entertained angels unawares.” (Hebrews 13:1-2).
Jesus said that He stands at the door and knocks. If any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him,
and will sup with him, and he with me. Do not ever think that Jesus
will intervene in the affairs of men without an invitation. He is not
going to just rush right into your home without you inviting him in. Even
though He told Zacchaeus to come down for He must abide at his house, Zacchaeus
could have said no. But because he wanted to see Jesus, he was obliged to
have Him come in. Have you left Jesus or his representative outside
because you did not want them to see inside of your house? Do not put a
welcome sign at your front door if you are not going to invite people in.
Sing: You are awesome in this place
Mighty God, you are awesome in this place Abba Father. You alone deserve
our praise, to you our voice we raise. You are awesome in this place
Mighty God.
Thought For Today: Don’t put a welcome
sign at your front door if you are not going to invite people in (Parker)
