Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 11 September 2020

Success

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.(James 1:12)

Today’s Morsel:  When I was in Elementary School and we were going from 8th grade to High School, we would have a graduation ceremony.  The theme for my graduation was entitled, ‘Success’.  We had succeeded in what we had set out to do eight years prior.  And now we would strive to succeed over the next four years during High School and everything else we would decide to do.  James said blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. There will be many trials and circumstances that will try to impede us from succeeding.  But if we can hold on to the end, we will succeed, and hear those faithful words, well done thou good and faithful servant.  Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life but rather by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.

Sing:  Hold to God’s unchanging hand.  Hold to God’s unchanging hand.  Build your hopes on things eternal.  Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

Thought For Today: “Success, I made it over” (Parker).
