Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 12 March 2020

The Inescapable Question

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.”  (Matthew 22:41-46)

Today’s Morsel:  They say that if you will observe Jesus’ actions when the religious leaders were always trying to entrap Him with questions, that Jesus overcame them by asking them a question in response to their question.  For example, when the lawyer asked him what the greatest commandment was?  He tells him.  But then Jesus asked them a question.  Jesus asked them, Saying, "What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?  If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?"  They answered based on linage not based on knowledge and truth.  “Howbeit, Paul wrote, we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.(1 Corinthians 2:6-8)  Don’t feel that you have to answer people's questions about the things of God.  Ask them to answer it.  We are commanded to not answer a fool in his folly lest we be like him.

Sing: The Mighty God is Jesus, the Prince of Peace is He, The Everlasting Father, the King Eternally.  The Wonderful in Wisdom, by whom all things were made, the fullness of the Godhead in Jesus is displayed.

It’s all in Him, it’s all in Him, the fullness of the Godhead is all in Him.  It’s all in Him, it’s all in Him, the Mighty God is Jesus and it’s all in Him.

Thought For Today:  The truth shall make you free.
