Discernment
“And
this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all
judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere
and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of
righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)
Today’s Morsel: When we
read the book of Proverbs, which is a book of wisdom, you will find that the
author often speaks of the importance of discretion. He says, “When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge
is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall
keep thee…” (Proverbs
2:10-11) Without discretion, we are not able to discern right from
wrong. Paul said that we need discernment to aid us in approving things that are excellent, so that
we will be sincere in our
walk and life, and
without wrongdoing till Jesus
comes again; so that we will be filled
with the fruits of righteousness which are by
Him. We need discernment
in what we see and what we hear, and what we believe, or we
will be a fool forever.
Sing: Show
me the way, that I may walk with You. Show me the way, that I must live for
You. The cry of my heart is to know You more, live with the touch of Your hand,
stronger every day, show me Your way.
Thought For Today: Can
you discern the times?
