Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. (Revelation 2:1-7)
Today's Morsel: Does it seem to you that God doesn't seem to matter to people anymore? Why does it seem that so many of those who once loved God, don't seem to display that desire anymore? Many seem to display the attitude of the church at Ephesus. They have left their first love. God doesn't matter to them. They think they have it all together. Many think that they know what love is until they are filled with God's Spirit. And then they really understand what it feels like to be truly loved. But then, because there isn't a nurturing of that love they don't want it anymore. And so they walk away from their first love, God. You see, when God no longer matters to you, nothing else really matters to you either. You may think it does, but it doesn't because without Jesus you can do nothing. Don't leave your first love. Keep that first love alive and real in your life. Always seeking Jesus, the giver of life. He makes everything better, richer, and fuller. Fall in love with Him every day.
Sing: I keep falling in love with Him, over and over and, over and over again; I keep falling in love with Him, over and over and, over and over again. He gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by, oh what a love between my Lord and I, I keep falling in love with Him, over and over and, over and over again.
Thought for Today: Love is really what you make it.
