Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)
Today's Morsel: Often times, when pondering on the word of God, I find myself asking the question as to why it seems that many Christians are so filled with sorrow and grief. If Jesus has borne these things for us, should we not be excited and uplifted. Why do we allow our heartaches and unhappiness to overtake us when Jesus has encouraged us to cast all of our cares upon Him? As Christians, the scriptures give us hope (Romans 15:4). Weeping may endure for a night, but if we focus on what Jesus has done for us then joy should come in the morning. Remember, Jesus is the antidote for the troubled mind (John 14:1).
Sing: He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. Surely, He bore all our sorrows, and by His stripes we are healed.
Thought for Today: Jesus is the antidote for the troubled mind.
