And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? (Luke 12:22-28)
Today's Morsel: Here in Wisconsin, they just recently raised the speed limit from 65 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour on the interstate. The people cried that they wanted to be like the other neighboring states that had their speed limit already set at 70 miles per hour. Indian reformer Mohandas K. Gandhi said, "There is more to life than increasing its speed." Even Jesus seems to call for us to slow down and take a closer look at life (Luke 12:22-28). Life isn't about speed. Life is about enjoying your surroundings and the people you are with. It's not about more stuff and more things and hurrying along. So many people are departing this world never enjoying life because they are speeding through it. Solomon the wisest man in the world said, "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all" (Ecclesiastes 9:11). And James admonishes us, "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). Life is short, therefore we need to slow down and enjoy it. Don't be so busy making a living that your forget to make a life.
Sing: To worship You I live! To worship You I live, I live to worship You. To worship You I live! To worship You I live, I live to worship You. Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh! Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!
Thought for Today: "The faster you go, the more you miss"
