Times Up
“Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:14-15)
Today’s Morsel: Joshua, who was the leader that led the children of Israel into the Promised Land and led them in battle, was now preparing to transition from life himself. Like Moses, who challenged the people at his death before they passed over into the Promised Land by telling them not to ever forget God and what He had done for them; Joshua tells them to choose whom they would serve. You see, your pastor can keep telling you to not forget what God has done for you, but there must come a time in your life that you must choose who you are going to serve. You must make up your mind for yourself and start acting and living like you believe that God’s word is true, which it is, and that God will do what He says He will do, and He will, for you. Times up for someone to keep prodding you along little doggie. It’s time for you to get your act together and serve God on your own. As the writer of Hebrews says: “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil… “Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.” (Hebrews 5;12-14, 6:1-3) Times up. Choose you this day.
Sing: When He call me, I will answer; when He call me, I will hear. When He call me, I will answer; I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord. I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord. I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working, I’ll be somewhere working for my Lord.
Thought For Today: “And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.” (Hebrews 11:15-16)
