2025 Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 February 20

How Much More Justification Do You Need?

“And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.” (Judges 6:11-17)

Today’s Morsel: Gideon knew that he was talking with an angel, but he could not believe it. Fear has a way of blinding our minds to what God is speaking and calling us to do. We hear folks all the time in the church saying that we need more miracles so that unbelievers will come to the church. But that isn’t going to persuade people if the people who are already there don’t believe it. Gideon is having a major conversation with the angel, but he doesn’t believe that God is calling him and that it is true. He puts out a fleece before God, but he still doesn’t believe it. He is sent to listen to what the enemy is saying about him, but he’s still not sure. He is told how many men to take with him and the strategic plan of how to select the men he will use to defeat his enemy. We don’t need a lot of justification when God speaks to us. We just need the faith like Paul when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus: “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.” (Acts 9:3-6) Paul did not question God. He received inspiration and revelation, and he did what he was told. If you have a Bible and have read it, then you need no more justification to do what God is asking you to do.

Sing: I command you Satan in the name of the Lord to pick up your weapons and flee; For God have given me authority to walk all over thee.

Thought For Today: “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)
