Finding More Than You Seek

“He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.”
(Proverbs 21:21)

Today’s Morsel: When you go to church, what are you seeking? Just what are you looking for when you go to church? Some folks have no clue what they are looking for, and so they focus on the mannerisms of others, and they come away confused, complaining, and in some cases worse off than when they went. I would think that when folks go to church they would go to hear and to learn, since scripture says, “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:15) I also find that a lot of folks that do complain will not put forth any effort to teach others or improve things themselves. But I wonder what they would find if they went seeking for righteousness. Isaiah stated, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7) God is the God of righteous you know. And anytime you seek Jesus, you are going to find more than what you sought for. Listen to what Jesus said: “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:31-33) Solomon said that if we seek after righteousness, you’ll will find mercy, life, righteousness, and honor. What are you seeking today? Seek for Jesus and everything you have need of will be added unto you.

Sing: Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you, hallelu-hallelujah.
