Follow Me
“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)
Today’s Morsel: When I first enlisted in the army, my Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) was 11-Bravo, Infantry. Queen of Battle. And our Infantry motto was, “Follow me!” We would sing songs to express our love for the infantry. Songs such as: “Hail! Hail! Infantry, queen of battle, follow me; with a weapon in my hand, I want to be a fighting man.” The infantry doesn’t follow others into battle, they lead others into the battle, and calls for them to follow them. Paul admonishes us to: “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1); and “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” (Philippians 4:9). Who are you following? Jesus told the men He was calling to follow Him and that He would make them fishers of men. Would you like to learn how to properly win souls? Then open your Bible, read it, and start following Jesus’ example, and you will be totally surprised how many fish (men) you will catch. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Sing: Lead me Lord, I will follow. Lead me Lord, I will go. You have called me, I will answer. Lead me Lord, I will go.
Thought For Today: “Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” (Hosea 6:3)
