When God Uses You For A Pattern Of Long-Suffering

“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.” (1 Timothy 1:12-16)

Today’s Morsel: When we think of patterns, we think of something that other things are made from. Everything that is made is patterned after some original thing. Even Solomon, the wisest man that has ever lived, tells us: The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10) Paul relating his calling and ministry tells Timothy, stating that God used him for a pattern of long-suffering so that others after him would believe. Calling himself the chiefest of sinners, Paul says that God showed him grace and that he obtained mercy to show that God is long-suffering, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Paul said that God was using him for a pattern of long-suffering to show that if God could save him, that He could forgive and save anyone. Has God used, or is God using your life to show others His long-suffering so that others may be saved?

Sing: Saved and I’m happy today, thanks be to God for this I can say, that I’m saved and I’m happy today, I’m walking up the King’s highway.

Thought For Today: “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.” (Hebrews 8:5)
