Did You Forget Your Cross?
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
Today’s Morsel: A few years ago, I wrote a book entitled, “The True Cross Bearers.” My goal was to relate some of the methods in which we could carry our cross daily to represent our discipleship with Jesus. It is important that each of us take up our cross daily and follow Him, just as Jesus told us to do. But I am afraid that I see many who may not be carrying their cross. Do people see that you are carrying your cross daily? The cross is just a reminder of what Christ has done for us. The cross is just a reminder to us that character counts. That the resurrection did take place. That obedience is better than sacrifice. That sin can only be destroyed from one’s life for those who have a commitment to carrying their cross daily. And that salvation stems out of a love for the cross. Some folks have their cross around their neck, while others have them on the back of their car and some others have them mounted in their homes. But few have them on their shoulders. Remember, the cross reminds Satan of your past, but it also reminds him of his future. So don’t leave home without it.
Sing: At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light, and the burden of my heart rolled away; It was there by faith, I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day.
Thought For Today: “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)
