The Outcome
“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things
in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and
morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth
say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take
the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words
of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall
add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall
take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his
part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things
which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely
I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:16-20)
Today’s Morsel: I have had people ask me if I have
read a certain book or seen a certain movie. When I tell them that I have not,
they will proceed to tell me the story and the outcome. It's as if to say, you
don’t need to, I’m going to tell you, so you don’t waste your money. But what
if I wanted to read it or see it? Now you’ve spoiled it for me. Most Christians
have read the Bible at least once, and they know the outcome and they want to
share the story with others. And then there are those who have read it, and who
do not care to share it, as they want you to read it for yourself. John tells
us that we must not add to nor take away from the words of this book. It is
important for each of us to share the gospel with others, but it is also
important for everyone to read the Bible for themselves. It is important
that each person read the Bible for themselves and allow the spirit to
lead and guide them into all truth, as the Lord did the Eunuch in the desert in
Act 8. Once he began to read and study, the spirit led Phillip to him to
give him an understanding of truth. Phillip didn’t add to, nor take away, but
gave a clear explanation, which led to salvation. If we know the outcome, let’s
wait for God to direct us to those who may be seeking Him for the answer.
Sing: He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By His own hand He leadeth
me. His faithful follower I will be, for by His hand he leadeth me.
Thought For Today: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all
that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then
thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
